I’ve spent my lifetime as a passionate artist & health and wellness Professional.
I took my first nutrition class when I was 14. As a new freshman in high school, I could not get into the biology class most my classmates were placed in, at Coast Union High School, in Cambria CA. So my advisor said I could take nutrition and it would count as my science that year. From that point on I could not unsee all I learned that year and spent my life learning about health and wellness since. As I was sparked by learning about specific vitamins, minerals, our human bodies and how they function best, I was all ready into my 5th year dancing in a company, taking classes in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, acting/ theater, musical theatre, while played tennis and baseball on our high school teams.
At 18, two weeks after graduating high school, I moved to Los Angeles to audition, and receive a year scholarship for a year program at The Edge Performing Arts School, under Jackie Sleight. At 19, I entered the workforce as a professional dancer and actor, having an agent booking national commercials, small parts of television and local plays and dance gigs. As my in between jobs love I added Schooling & Certifications to be a Personal Fitness Trainer and Teacher in various forms of fitness including, Step, Aerobics, Spin. Group and Individual fitness training certifications with AFAA.
Part of my weeks on stages or in front of cameras. Part of my weeks working one on one or in group classes leading people to better health, inside and out.
Essentialshine came to me the year Naila was born in 2014. It was time to name my newest business. It had grown to support us. I chose the word Shine, my first tattoo and my first intention here. May I help YOU Shine for exactly who you were born to be, naturally. May I only help any follower, student, customer live life healthier and brighter in their authentic self. Shine- was a word we said circled up back stage since I started dancing before every show. May we Shine for our audience and give to them, as we do what we were born to do. Essential from the oils I have learned the most from. Down to the basics, the essentials, the simplicity of what works and only supports you and yours.
Essentialshine is my hub for all I do and offer from all I have learned and practiced in creating, health and wellness since 2014.
In addition I stumbled into selling doTERRA.
We made the big move, in a simple “why not?” decision to take our then 1 year old Daysha, and start a life on Kauai. As I was home with Daysha setting up life here, while her dad at work, I was searching for a few new natural remedies for her and us. I needed a better bug spray. I wanted ease for us both. I had just started to wean her and I needed better soothing for my anxiety that was flaring up after the big move, and as an all ready avid love for keeping our home non toxic, I needed to rebuild a few products for cleaning.
IN came a few samples sent by an old dear high school girlfriend, Kate. I was in awe of these tiny viles of essential oil. I only ever knew essential oils to be used as a scent. As a sweaty all day fitenss trainer/ teacher I would use vanilla or a floral blend of essential oils instead of perfume to keep me feeling fresher for my clients.
Kate sent me: Lavender for my anxiety, Frankinsence as a “does it all!” oil. Wild Orange to clean with and Terrashield for bugs. Mind you, these samples, that I now send to my customers, were just about 10 drops each.
JUST A FEW DROPS DID EVERY JOB I NEEDED.
I never ever felt the calm like I do with Lavender. it’s now the biggest tattoo on my body I love it so much. 12 years later it’s my favorite anti anxiety - all things calming- aid. Terrashield safly kept bugs off me and little Daysha. Wild orange made my kitchen sink sparkle and smell sooooo good. And the Frankincense I used for various skin needs, added calming and on Daysha and I nightly.
I immediately started just sharing naturally. After 2 years I had surprisingly created income replacement money. All this just on the side, casually as a stay at home mama. As I sold and helped others, I was serving our family in all our needs too, along with all I had known, practiced and studied about health and wellness over all. Our home needs, our toddlers needs. though 2 pregnancies, 1 miscarriage and our second girl born in 2014. Through divorce and being a single income home and single mama. Now as we merge families with my fiancé this year, blending our families and creating a new life together.
In 2014 Essentialshine was born. From 2012-early 2021 it was all I did. My classes, workshops, traveling to teach and learn, as I was married, then divorced. Always a mama. into becoming a single income home and co parenting. Essentialhshine was and is my hub for all I offer and do. Selling doTERRA, teaching dance and fitness, offering gatherings online and in person to make and keep learning. In 2021 we experienced loss due to massive loss of supply / shipping from our global pandemic. From 2021 - late 2023 I was just able to maintain what was left.
I, like so many business’s needed to pivot and supplement my income with a second part time job in sales at a local shop, Aloha Exchange, here on Kauai. I consider this time grueling yet every ounce filled with growth. It was time to focus on survival, making sure I could feed the girls and keep us thriving and just keep my income providing. I have always needed to provide for my self and have never received aid from family or out side source.
In late 2023 the vision pulled again, and business met with the flow of our world. As our world still finds it’s new ways so do I. Grateful we are back in action so to say, as a world, but tender in still applying all we learned and are still figuring out as a new world post shut down.

I am loving finding new ways to grow. It feels more authentic, truthful and connected. It feels quite honestly healthier. The need for real truth. We are not the same, business is not the same and I will continue new ways to create and be and keep this light shining in hopes it only serves.
Today along with Essentialshine, I am co raising Daysha who is now 13. Peek at HER when she adored working along side mama in her DIY with Daysha videos. She still helps and shows her face to earn money with mama sometimes. Naila is now 9! and my mama hood life I just adore! These ages and stages are the best! I found my love, an old friend, totally unexpectedly, running into him in Costco in 2021. Flash forward we will marry this year. It’s quite a journey I still have so much more to write about. Love is in our air. I turn 50 in just a couple weeks from typing this. I still teach dance and fitness. I run our oldest dance company of teens at Koloa Dance House. I teach musical theater - having started that department for our studio. And co teach Pointe 1 & 2 having also started that program at our studio. I offer 4 adult fitness classes a week to the most beautiful adult community. And I am here with you all. Talking story. shainrg, always healing and growing along side you.

doTERRA and the world of essential oils arrived by a dear friend assisting me in my request for a natural bug reliant and ease with anxious feelings. We had just arrived on Kauai in 2011, after growing up and spending our lives on the central coast of California and professional life in Los Angeles.
One drop of Lavender calmed my whole being. I instantly felt my body settle. Terrashield became our perfect non toxic mosquito repellant for my then first daughter at age 2 and I. Wild Orange became one of my favorite ways to clean the kitchen, add to my water AND settle us down in the diffuser. These tiny drops sampled to me in a 5/8 dram, changed our lives. I was in awe how powerful 1 drop was and dove into educating myself to learn how and why.
At 50! this year, I have been teaching for 31 years.
2022 I enter my 11th year with Essentialshine. I lead a global Ohana (on Hawaii, Ohana is our chosen family, and I cherish each custom and business partner). Grateful to call Kauai home, keep taking the best care of my girls with time freedom and tend to all of our health and wellness with the best.
In addition to selling doTERRA, I love to teach and create aid with life style changes. I am a co parent to Daysha and Naila, now ages 12 and 8. I teach dance and fitness classes. I also make products using our precious essential oils and other natural ingredients using recipes I have used over the year on my family and self. And write and create education for customers. I share many of the tools and techniques I practice to help all of us keep our emotional bodies healthy too.

OH… why the Shine?
I believe we are all born to Shine our own authentic light in the way only each of us can. To Shine our brightest means true health inside and out. Preventive, Present, Planned health habits and routines.
It’s also what we say before every show before the curtains open. Pat Jackson, would circle us up on the stage at curtain call, we would pray over the show and I add now, how I can be used to help others.
